You are standing near the site of the former Hôtel Grimod de La Reynière. Completed in 1775, this grand neoclassical residence once stood at the corner of the rue Boissy d'Anglas and the avenue Gabriel. It was a masterpiece of eighteenth-century architecture, boasting interiors decorated with scenes inspired by the archaeological discoveries at Pompeii and Herculaneum, marking one of the first times such designs appeared in a private French home.
