Passage Brady

Passage Brady began in eighteen twenty-eight as an ambitious architectural project designed by a local merchant named Monsieur Brady. He intended to create the longest covered shopping arcade in Paris, a structure so expansive that it originally featured an elegant, central glass rotunda. This grand vision was short-lived because in eighteen fifty-four, the construction of Boulevard de Strasbourg cut directly through the middle of the arcade. The demolition of the rotunda and the central section left the passage permanently divided into two distinct parts, one of which remains covered by a glass roof while the other is open to the sky.
