Madelonnettes Convent

The Madelonnettes Convent began in the early seventeenth century as a well-intentioned project by a local wine merchant named Robert de Montry. He initially sought to provide a sanctuary for women who wished to leave behind lives of prostitution and seek a path of religious redemption. His charity eventually grew into a formal institution funded by donations from French nobility and supported by King Louis the Thirteenth.
