Place de Jérusalem

The Place de Jerusalem is a relatively new addition to the city map, inaugurated in twenty nineteen. Its name revives a lost piece of Parisian history, as a small alleyway known as Rue Jerusalem once existed near the historic Palace of Justice. That original street served as a place of lodging for pilgrims returning from the Holy Land until it disappeared from the city's topography following a devastating fire at the palace in eighteen seventy-one. The modern square was dedicated to restore this historical connection and sits in the seventeenth arrondissement, serving as a landmark near the European Center of Judaism.
