The equestrian statue standing before you represents Ferdinand-Philippe, the Duke of Orleans and the eldest son of King Louis-Philippe. He was the heir to the French throne during the July Monarchy, but his life ended abruptly in 1842 after a tragic carriage accident nearby on the route de la Révolte.
