Statue équestre du duc d'Orléans

The bronze statue of Ferdinand Philippe, the Duke of Orléans, shows him mounted on a horse, his uniform capturing the style of a nineteenth-century military leader. This sculpture originally stood in the center of the Louvre courtyard in Paris. King Louis Philippe commissioned it to honor his eldest son, who died in a carriage accident. After the monarchy fell, the statue moved several times before settling here in Neuilly-sur-Seine. The horse remains frozen in mid-stride, facing toward the Seine.
