Pavillon de Musique

The Pavillon de Musique sits inside the gardens of the Saint-James Madrid, marked by its Neoclassical limestone facade and the pediment that crowns the entrance. Queen Marie-Antoinette commissioned this retreat in seventeen seventy-seven as a place for her private concerts and intimate gatherings away from the strict etiquette of Versailles. While the original estate once spanned nearly sixty acres, only this small, elegant structure remains, tucked away from the modern noise of Neuilly-sur-Seine as a quiet remnant of the French royal court.
