Bassin Takis - Œuvre d'art mouvante

cultural

The Bassin Takis features a collection of vertical, kinetic steel rods that sway rhythmically above the water. Created by the Greek sculptor Takis in nineteen eighty-eight, these slender masts are topped with flickering signal lights. They react to the wind, creating a constantly shifting geometry in the center of the Esplanade de la Défense. Takis designed them to capture invisible energy, turning the open space into a field of motion where industrial components behave like reeds in a gentle breeze.
