Ancien hôtel Lambiotte

The Ancien hôtel Lambiotte stands as a sprawling limestone mansion marked by a curved corner tower and intricate stone balconies. Built in the early twentieth century for the industrialist Auguste Lambiotte, the residence served as a stage for his family’s prominent social life. During the Second World War, the German occupation force seized the house, turning the private drawing rooms into headquarters. A German officer later used the cellar to hide his own family’s valuables before fleeing the advancing Allied troops in nineteen forty-four.
