The Pavillon de la Suède et de la Norvège features a distinct exterior of varnished cedar wood and bold, colorful carvings inspired by traditional Scandinavian folk art. Originally constructed for the eighteen eighty-nine Paris World Fair, the structure served to showcase the joint interests of Sweden and Norway when the two nations were united. After the fair, a local entrepreneur bought the building and moved it to its current spot in Courbevoie, where it functioned as a private residence for several decades.
