The structure you are approaching was not built to stay in Courbevoie. It began its life in eighteen seventy-eight as the joint national pavilion for Sweden and Norway at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. At the time, the two countries were united under a single monarch, and the building was designed to mirror that political reality. The architect Henrik Thrap-Meyer created two distinct wings linked by a central gallery, allowing both nations to be represented within a single cohesive, wooden framework.
