The bridge you see before you is a descendant of the late nineteenth century, completed in eighteen eighty-seven to replace an earlier crossing that had fallen into disrepair. Designed by the renowned civil engineer Eugene Belgrand, the structure is crafted from a mix of iron and stone. It stands as a physical marker of the rapid industrial expansion that transformed this riverside area from a quiet zone into a bustling suburban neighbor to Paris during the final decades of the eighteen hundreds.
