The Tour First skyscraper pierces the skyline with a jagged, crystalline silhouette, standing as the tallest building in France. Completed in twenty eleven, the tower occupies the site of the former Axa Tower. When architects redesigned the structure, they added six extra floors and wrapped the entire building in a faceted glass skin. During the renovation, workers discovered an abandoned, intact bomb shelter deep in the basement, left over from the nineteen seventies, complete with original air filtration systems and heavy iron doors.
