Statue de Jean-Rodolphe Perronet

The bronze figure of Jean-Rodolphe Perronet stands over the Plaine des Sablons, dressed in the heavy coat and breeches of an eighteenth-century royal engineer. He holds a rolled set of architectural plans, commemorating the man who founded the École des Ponts et Chaussées and built the bridge connecting Neuilly to Paris. During the French Revolution, his original monument was melted down to make cannons. This replacement arrived in the nineteen thirties, cast from a design by the sculptor Henri Bouchard.
