Hôtel de Ville, Neuilly-sur-Seine

The Hotel de Ville of Neuilly-sur-Seine stands on the site of a property once owned by the wealthy Balsan family. Completed in eighteen eighty-six, this Renaissance Revival building replaced an earlier, smaller neoclassical town hall that had become insufficient for the growing needs of the commune. Architects Victor Dutocq and Charles Simonet designed the structure with a symmetrical nine-bay facade that remains a defining feature of the area today. While the building is celebrated for its ornate stonework, it originally featured a prominent cast-iron bell tower that rose forty-two meters into the sky before it was removed in the late twentieth century for stability.
