Tour D2 stands as a striking landmark in the La Defense district, rising one hundred and seventy-one meters above the ground. Completed in twenty fourteen, the building replaces the old Bureau Veritas tower that once occupied this site. Architects Anthony Bechu and Tom Sheehan drew inspiration for its unique ovoid shape from the structural form of a fish trap. This design choice serves a practical purpose, as the diamond-patterned steel mesh surrounding the tower acts as an exo-structure that supports the building and reduces the amount of material needed by thirty percent.
