Théâtre du Voyageur

The Théâtre du Voyageur sits inside a former railway station at the end of the line in Asnières-sur-Seine. Chérif Bakhta founded the company in the nineteen eighties, long after the station stopped serving passengers. Instead of building a traditional stage, the troupe kept the vaulted ceiling and the open floor plan of the waiting room. Actors perform surrounded by the peeling paint and original stone architecture. They rehearse and stage plays here, maintaining a space for creation inside a disused transport hub.
