Ancien Usine Meccano

The building you see before you served as the first French factory for the world-famous construction toy Meccano. Built in nineteen twenty-one, this site on rue Rébeval was designed by the Belgian architect Arthur Vye-Parminter. Its striking facade, characterized by curved openings and crenelated silhouettes, was inspired by the industrial architecture of northern France. While Meccano was invented by the British clerk Frank Hornby, this Paris facility became essential for supplying the kits to a French market that grew rapidly during the interwar years.
