The École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs stands as a cornerstone of French creative history, tracing its origins back to the eighteenth century. It was founded in seventeen sixty-six by the painter Jean-Jacques Bachelier as the Royal Free School of Drawing. King Louis the Fifteenth granted the school royal letters patent a year later, with the specific mission of elevating the quality of manufactured goods by teaching artisans the fine arts.
