Oiseau-Lunaire Square occupies the former site of a cluster of artist studios at forty-five rue Blomet. In the nineteen twenties, this specific location functioned as a vibrant, informal headquarters for the burgeoning surrealist movement. Artists and poets, including Joan Miró and André Masson, gathered here to experiment with automatic drawing and dream-inspired imagery. The atmosphere remained famously creative and communal, with the artists sharing meals, dancing, and developing the radical ideas that would define their careers.
