The sculpture you are approaching is officially titled Twisted Lamppost Star, though it is widely known simply as the pink lamppost. Created by artist Mark Handforth, this seventeen-meter-tall structure functions as both a piece of public art and a reimagining of standard city infrastructure. It was installed in April 2012 as part of an artistic initiative to enliven the surroundings of the then-new tramway line.
