Rosiers Joseph Migneret Garden

park garden

The Rosiers Joseph Migneret Garden is a quiet, hidden oasis created by stitching together the private backyards of three historic mansions, the Hotel de Coulanges, the Hotel Barbes, and the Hotel d'Albret. While it is now a peaceful spot for locals to sit and enjoy the greenery, its layout reveals a much deeper, more somber connection to the history of this neighborhood. The garden serves as a memorial to Joseph Migneret, the principal of the nearby public elementary school on Rue des Hospitalières Saint-Gervais. During the Nazi occupation of Paris, Migneret risked his life to lead a rescue network, hiding his own students and their families in his home and securing false papers to help them escape the systematic roundups that devastated the local community.
