Square Capitan serves as a modern green space that honors the city's ancient roots. It occupies the site of what was once the Saint-Victor reservoir, but its name commemorates the physician and anthropologist Jean-Louis Capitan. He was instrumental in the early twentieth century for leading the archaeological excavations that helped preserve the Roman amphitheater sitting directly beside the garden.
