Jardin de la Folie Titon

The Jardin de la Folie Titon sits on ground that once hosted one of the most daring scientific experiments of the eighteenth century. In 1783, this site served as the workshop for the Royal Wallpaper Factory, run by the entrepreneur Jean-Baptiste Réveillon. Réveillon partnered with the Montgolfier brothers, who utilized the factory's expertise in manufacturing durable paper to construct the skin of their experimental hot air balloons. On October 19, 1783, this very location hosted a historic tethered flight, lifting a passenger one hundred meters into the air for the first time in history.
