Khwaju Kermani Tomb

The tomb of Khwaju Kermani sits carved directly into the cliffside above the dry bed of the Khoshk River. Two stone pillars stand guard at the foot of the grave, remnants of a bygone era, while the poet himself rests under the open sky without a roof. When the fourteenth-century mystic died in Shiraz, his admirers chose this spot so he could overlook the city. Local legend says he still listens to the travelers who stop to recite his verses aloud.
