Mausoleum of Hafez

The tomb of Hafez sits beneath an open-air pavilion supported by eight stone columns, capped with a copper dome shaped like a dervish hat. While Hafez died in thirteen ninety, this current structure was designed by a French architect in the nineteen thirties to modernize the site. The marble slab covering the grave is carved with two of his most famous poems. People still press their palms to the stone, hoping for a sign or a bit of luck from his verses.
