Shiraz Coppersmith Bazaar

The Shiraz Coppersmith Bazaar features a vaulted brick ceiling that dampens the chaos of the city outside into a rhythmic, metallic ring. Apprentices spend their days hammering geometric patterns onto copper sheets, a practice passed down through generations of artisans here. The soot-stained walls and the constant, piercing chime of metal on metal define this corridor within the larger Vakil Bazaar complex. Karim Khan Zand commissioned this district in the eighteenth century, forcing the metalworkers into one dedicated row to manage the noise.
