The Sayyed Alaeddin Hossein Mosque glitters with a dense, shimmering armor of tiny, hand-cut mirror shards that cover every inch of the interior walls and ceiling. This structure holds the tomb of the son of the Imam Musa al-Kadhim, who died in Shiraz while traveling to meet his brother. Pilgrims flock here to touch the silver-latticed zarih surrounding his grave. In the thirteenth century, a local merchant discovered the hidden burial site after seeing a light glowing from the ground each night.
