Nasir al-Mulk Mosque

The Nasir al-Mulk Mosque glows in the morning light because of its extensive use of stained glass, which filters the sun into a kaleidoscopic pattern across the floor. Mirza Hasan Ali, a merchant of the Qajar dynasty, commissioned the building in eighteen seventy-six. He wanted a space that captured the shifting colors of daybreak, so the artisans filled the prayer hall windows with intricate, colored panes. The mosque remains a private endowment, maintained by a foundation established by the original family line.
