Khan School

The Khan School features an octagonal vestibule decorated with intricate tile work depicting birds and flowers. Built in the early seventeenth century by Imam Quli Khan, the governor of Fars, the madrasa was designed to serve as a center for religious and scientific study. When the philosopher Mulla Sadra taught here, he challenged the established orthodoxy of the time, eventually leading to his temporary exile. The building remains a place of quiet study where students still sit in the small chambers surrounding the courtyard.
