museum

The Casa del Mayorazgo de Fagoaga displays a stone facade carved with heavy, deep reliefs that suggest a fortress as much as a home. Don Francisco de Fagoaga, a wealthy mine owner who held the title of Marquis del Apartado, built this residence in the eighteenth century to solidify his family status. Legend claims that during a lavish party, Fagoaga insisted his guests walk only on silver coins laid out across the floor, a display of arrogance that local neighbors still repeat today.
