Parroquia San Jacinto

The Parroquia San Jacinto has a bell tower that looks slightly crooked against the sky. Dominican friars built this church in the late sixteenth century on land once used by the local indigenous population. During the colonial era, it served as a center for evangelization in the area. A small courtyard garden hides behind the thick stone walls, holding the remains of early converts. One stone cross in that garden still bears carvings made by indigenous artisans, blending their traditional symbols with Catholic imagery.
