Museo Casa del Risco

The Museo Casa del Risco features a facade covered in volcanic stone and plaster, but the true spectacle rests inside the central courtyard. A massive, eighteenth-century fountain stands there, encrusted with intricate shells, porcelain, and colorful tiles. Isidro Fabela, a diplomat who owned the house in the mid-twentieth century, assembled this baroque masterpiece from fragments of broken chinaware and pottery. He invited friends to break their own dishes to contribute to the mosaic, leaving the shards of their dinnerware embedded in the fountain.
