Plaza de los Arcángeles

The Plaza de los Arcángeles is marked by its quiet, cobblestone floor and the fountain at its center, where four stone archangels stand guard. This space occupies what was once the backyard of the neighboring Carmelite monastery. When the monastery grounds were carved up in the nineteenth century, this parcel became a private garden for the wealthy families settling in San Ángel. It stayed hidden behind high walls until the city opened it as a public plaza in the nineteen seventies.
