Cinéma Colisée

The Cinéma Colisée stands in Guéliz with a distinct, sharp-angled marquee that jutted out over the sidewalk long before the surrounding neighborhood filled with modern glass storefronts. When it opened in nineteen fifty-five, the architect Georges Peynet designed it to be the largest and most luxurious theater in Marrakesh. It served as a neighborhood hub for decades, hosting international premieres and local film clubs alike. Today, the faded geometric patterns on its facade remain, marking a period of ambitious mid-century urban development.
