The Pasaż pod Błękitnym Słońcem, or Passage Under the Blue Sun, stands out for the massive azure sphere suspended over the entrance of its central courtyard. This building began as the nineteenth-century Oppermann Department Store, designed by Karl Grosser with an ornate, neo-baroque facade. During the nineteen thirties, the architect Albert Kempter stripped away the decorative details, leaving the clean, modernist lines seen today. A merchant once sold everything from fine lace to heavy ironmongery here before the structure shifted into an office complex.
