The Moda Stage Theatre sits behind a long, red-brick façade punctuated by tall, industrial-style windows. It began life in the nineteen seventies as a cinema, but after years of neglect, a collective of actors renovated the shell into a performance space. When they pulled up the flooring, they uncovered the original concrete foundation of a former factory. Today, the theater hosts experimental productions in that same concrete-heavy, reclaimed space, leaving the heavy steel beams exposed high above the audience.
