During the Second World War, the elegant mansions at numbers 6, 7, and 8 Kensington Palace Gardens housed a clandestine facility known as the London Cage. While the street was famously dubbed Millionaires Row for its wealthy residents and proximity to royal grounds, this specific address operated as a top-secret interrogation center run by MI19, the branch of British military intelligence tasked with extracting information from captured German prisoners. The facility officially did not exist and remained off the lists provided to the Red Cross to maintain absolute secrecy. Behind the facade of these Victorian homes, interrogators employed techniques including sleep deprivation, prolonged solitary confinement, and even experimental truth drugs to break the will of prisoners who had refused to speak elsewhere.
