Portobello Road

You are walking along a street that originated as a quiet, winding country path called Green's Lane. Long before the bustling market stalls filled these sidewalks, the route served as a simple track for farmers moving goods between the outskirts of London and the city. The name Portobello only arrived after a local farmhouse was built in seventeen forty, which was christened in honor of a British naval victory at the port town of Portobelo in Panama during the War of Jenkins' Ear.
