Electric Cinema

The building you are approaching began its life in nineteen eleven on the site of a former timber yard. Architect Gerald Seymour Valentin designed it in the Edwardian Baroque style, complete with a domed corner roof and ornate stone garlands. At the time, it was a pioneering feat of engineering because it was one of the very first structures in the neighborhood designed specifically for motion pictures and connected directly to the new local electricity mains.
