Trellick Tower

Trellick Tower stands as a towering example of brutalist architecture, reaching thirty-one stories into the North Kensington skyline. Designed by Hungarian-born architect Erno Goldfinger, the building was completed in 1972 as an ambitious social housing project meant to provide high-density living with ample natural light and generous apartment space. Its most striking feature is a slender, detached service tower that houses lifts, stairs, and a cantilevered boiler room, connected to the main block by walkways every third floor. This design choice was intended to isolate the noise of mechanical services from the living areas while creating the structure's unmistakable, fortress-like silhouette.
