Prince’s Square Gardens

Prince's Square Gardens in Bayswater emerged from the ambitions of a nineteenth-century property speculator named George Wyatt. Between eighteen fifty-six and eighteen sixty-four, Wyatt transformed what had been simple market gardens and nurseries into this structured residential square. The tall, white-stuccoed townhouses that line the perimeter were part of his vision to capture the era's demand for high-end urban living. While the surrounding area eventually shifted toward hotels and boarding houses, these gardens remained a deliberate, private anchor for the architecture he created.
