One Hans Crescent

One Hans Crescent stands on land once known as Long Field, a rural stretch of open ground before it was transformed into the dense, elite enclave you see today. The building that occupies this address was completed in eighteen ninety-six as the Hans Crescent Hotel, a grand Renaissance Revival project meant to cater to the wealthiest visitors coming to London. Its interiors were so esteemed that the famous portrait painter John Singer Sargent regularly chose its dining room for his evening meals, often preferring the service and atmosphere here over his own private club.
