Goodenough College

Goodenough College sits on the edge of Mecklenburgh Square, a site with a long, varied history. In the nineteenth century, the area was a well to do residential district, but by the start of the twentieth century, it had transformed into a bohemian enclave for writers, radicals, and intellectuals. Among those who lived in the square were the novelist D H Lawrence and the author Virginia Woolf. The college buildings themselves replaced some of these older properties, carrying forward the square's tradition of hosting scholars and thinkers.
