Gilbert Collection

The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection is a world-class assembly of decorative arts now housed within the Victoria and Albert Museum. It comprises over one thousand masterpieces, including intricate gold boxes, European silver, and rare micromosaics. Sir Arthur Gilbert, a London-born businessman who found great success in California, and his wife Rosalinde spent decades acquiring these treasures. They intended for the collection to be shared with the public, eventually gifting it to the British nation in nineteen ninety-six. This gift represents one of the most significant donations of decorative art ever made to the United Kingdom.
