Roman Baths, Strand Lane

The structure you are approaching sits behind a simple window at five Strand Lane. While it has been famously called the Roman Bath for nearly two centuries, it does not date back to the Roman occupation of Britain. It originated in sixteen twelve as a water storage tank, known as a cistern, built to supply a decorative fountain in the gardens of the original Somerset House.
