Crabtree Fields

Crabtree Fields occupies a site with a violent history, as the land was cleared of its original Georgian terrace housing by bombs during the Second World War. For decades following the war, the resulting gap served as a barren car park for local commuters. It was only through a persistent, years-long campaign by neighborhood activists in the nineteen-eighties that the space was finally reclaimed and transformed into the public green oasis you see today.
