St John's Garden

St John's Garden sits on land that once served as a medieval kitchen garden for the Priory of St John of Jerusalem. After the priory was dissolved by Henry the Eighth in the sixteenth century, the plot passed into private hands. By the mid eighteenth century, it had been repurposed as an overflow burial ground for the nearby St John's Church.
