The Goethe-Institut London occupies a pair of historic, grade two listed buildings at 50 and 51 Princes Gate. These structures were once private residences before the institute moved into the space in 1962 to serve as a bridge for post-war Anglo-German relations. Over the decades, the site expanded from its original footprint into the neighboring former Gallery House, physically connecting these grand nineteenth-century townhouses to create its current home.
