Rembrandt Gardens

Rembrandt Gardens occupies a site that once held a row of Italianate houses and studios used by local artists. In the middle of the twentieth century, these buildings were cleared away to create a public space initially known as Warwick Avenue Gardens. The name was changed in 1975 to honor a new formal link between Westminster and Amsterdam. To mark the occasion, the city of Amsterdam gifted thousands of tulip bulbs and hyacinths to the garden, which were planted during a ceremony attended by Dutch dignitaries wearing traditional national dress.
