Blue Plaque: Guy Gibson

You are standing outside thirty two Aberdeen Place. This address marks the home where Wing Commander Guy Gibson lived during the Second World War. Gibson was the leader of the famous Dambusters raid in nineteen forty three. While staying at this house, he wrote much of his memoir, Enemy Coast Ahead. It is also the place where a telegram arrived to deliver the news of his death in nineteen forty four at the age of twenty six.
