The Beatles opened their Apple Boutique at ninety four Baker Street in late nineteen sixty seven with a lavish party attended by John Lennon and George Harrison. The interior featured a psychedelic mural painted by a collective known as the Fool, which covered the entire exterior of the building. This massive painting drew immediate complaints from local residents and authorities because it violated zoning regulations. The shop operated for only seven months before the band closed it permanently due to mounting financial losses and constant reports of shoplifting. On the final day of business, the band gave away the remaining inventory to anyone who walked through the doors until the shelves were completely empty.
